Barry Trotz, the only coach the Nashville Predators have ever had, received a contract extension Monday after guiding the team to the first playoff berth in its six-year history.

Terms were not disclosed.

Also receiving extensions were the other members of Trotz's staff - associate coach Brent Peterson, assistant coach Peter Horachek, goaltending coach Mitch Korn and video coach Robert Bouchard.

"Barry and his staff have taken the team to the next level," general manager David Poile said. "Our team has always worked hard, always been prepared, and our players continue to improve, a testament to the coaches' dedication."

Trotz, 41, has been behind the bench for all 492 regular-season games in Predators' history - a record for a coach with an expansion team. His tenure is tied for third among active coaches behind Ottawa's Jacques Martin and Buffalo's Lindy Ruff.

This season, Trotz led Nashville to team records with 38 wins, 22 home wins, 91 points, 216 goals, 72 power-play goals and 14 shorthanded goals.

The Predators split the first two games of their Western Conference quarterfinal series with top-seeded Detroit, then lost two in a row and were eliminated.

Peterson, Korn and Bouchard have been with Nashville since 1998, while Horachek joined the staff last June.
