Mathieu Dandenault cleaned out his garage. Jiri Fischer played with his puppy. Jason Williams went for a Sunday drive to London, Ontario.

The weekend couldn't have been better for the Red Wings. They eliminated Nashville, 2-0, Saturday and were rewarded with 80-degree weather Sunday back home in Detroit.

The Wings went back to work Monday with an afternoon skate at Joe Louis Arena, refreshed after a day spent with family and friends. It was the team's first day off in two weeks.

Dandenault had a barbecue and kept himself busy with chores.

"Cleaned the house," Dandenault said. "Cleaned my garage. Open the garage up. Open all the doors and windows. Let the fresh air come in.

"It was good. Seen some friends. Overall, a really nice day. I enjoyed it."

Fellow defenseman Jamie Rivers spent time with his three children, so his day was a little more hectic.

"Got up, spent the day with the kids," Rivers said. "When you've got three kids, that pretty much consumes your day.

"Get up, battle through the day and keep everyone happy. Have some fun. I'm dead tired by supper time. Sometimes I need a cup of coffee to battle through and get them all to bed. It's good.

"Weather was beautiful. Went to the park. That usually wears them out a little bit."

Fischer also went to a park, but with his girlfriend and 3-month-old puppy.

"We went to the park and (had) a good relaxing day," he said.

Williams made the trek back to his hometown of London to see his parents.

"I hadn't seen them in a while," Williams said, "so I decided to go home and spend the day there and then came back" Monday morning. "It was nice. Have the windows down. Went out for dinner with a friend of mine and sat home and watched the Leafs-Ottawa game with my folks and my brother."
