Fernando Morientes and Shabani Nonda scored late goals, and Monaco beat Chelsea 3-1 despite playing a man short for most of the second half Tuesday in a UEFA Champions League semifinal game.

Spanish international Morientes fired a powerful shot into the roof of the net for a 2-1 lead in the 77th minute after taking a pass from captain Ludovic Giuly. Substitute Nonda scored five minutes later.

Monaco midfielder Andreas Zikos was red-carded eight minutes into the second half for appearing to punch Chelsea's Claude Makelele in the back of the head.

The teams play the second leg of the home-and-home series May 5 in London. The winner -- decided on goal aggregate -- takes on the survivor of the tie between Porto of Portugal and Deportivo de La Coruna of Spain, who play Wednesday at Porto.

Dado Prso put Monaco ahead in the 16th minute. Hernan Crespo tied the match for Chelsea six minutes later.

Both teams are looking to reach the Champions League final for the first time. Monaco is trying to become the first French team to win the top European competition since Marseille in 1993.

Dunfermline booked themselves a place in the Scottish Cup final against Premier League champions Celtic after a hard-fought 3-2 semi-final replay win against Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Darren Young, Craig Brewster and Barry Nicholson all got on the scoresheet for the Pars who found themselves a goal down to their First Division opponents.

Following the teams 1-1 draw first time around, Paul Ritchie put Caley in front in the seventh minute with his 20th goal of the season.

But Dunfermline levelled through Young 18 minutes later and from then on they were in charge.

Inverness pulled one back from the penalty spot through David Bingham in the final minute but the clock eventually beat Caley.

Jimmy Calderwood's side will now contest the final for the first time since 1968 and will take a place in next season's UEFA Cup with Celtic involved in the Champions League.
